Typical Meeting
A typical meeting start at 7:00pm with drinks and networking followed by a dinner at 7:30pm and an educational session at 9pm. Each Toastmasters of Paris meeting has fairly standard key components. The components are prepared speeches, impromptu speeches and evaluations.
Prepared speeches
These are speeches prepared in advance by members and given at the meeting. These speeches are based on different guiding manuals, and the aim is to practice specific skills in each speech.
Impromptu speeches
Impromptu speeches or Table Topics as they are usually called, help members develop their quick thinking and smooth talking skills. The table topics master will give a question for you to answer or ask for your opinion on a given subject. The speaker then has 1 - 2 minutes to give his response.
Evaluations
Evaluations are the part of the meeting where members get feedback on their speech. The evaluator would typically point out things that were done well, plus give some tips for things that could be improved next time.
